Currys Intranet Re-platform: Transforming Internal Communication

Building a secure, scalable intranet platform that supports thousands of colleagues with reliable access to critical tools, content and communications.

The Challenge

Currys, a global leader in consumer electronics with over 2 000 stores and significant international operations, relied on an ageing intranet powered by an unsupported legacy CMS. The platform was central to business functions — from HR and finance to store operations and colleague tools — but the technology was no longer sustainable, and internal teams lacked the skills to maintain it. A seamless re-platform was critical to ensure continuity of core business operations without disruption.

Migrate from an outdated legacy intranet without affecting business-critical functions.

Preserve workflows for multiple departments and geographies during the transition.

Replace a system with no remaining internal expertise while maintaining security and usability.

What We Delivered

We delivered a complete re-platform of Currys’ internal intranet, migrating from an unsupported legacy CMS to a custom-built content management system designed for reliability and scalability. Our team mapped the existing intranet infrastructure in detail, enabling us to structure a phased approach that tackled each business area in priority order.

Collaborating directly with colleagues on-site at Currys’ headquarters allowed us to fully understand workflows, content usage and security requirements. This hands-on insight informed the design of templates, custom controls and plugin integrations that kept familiar touchpoints intact while modernising underlying technology.

The result is a future-proof internal system that streamlines interactions across finance, HR, services and store teams. Currys now benefits from a cohesive suite of intranet sites built for ease of use, faster maintenance and simplified integration with future back-office systems, giving greater flexibility when adopting new third-party technology.

Jon Cass

After a number of years using Immediacy to manage intranet sites within our business, the decision was made to move to all content for our existing communications platform on to Envisage. Having already worked with Greenwood Campbell for a number of years, before making this decision, we sought advice from them due to their understanding of our business as well as expertise in this field. During the project we encountered a number of challenges due to the complexity of our IT Infrastructure and on numerous occasions Greenwood Campbell were able to contribute to the solutions to overcome them, providing support and advice whenever required. Their technical knowledge, team work and determination was invaluable to the success of the project.
