We transformed the Fisherman's Friends global annual business plan

With a heritage dating back to 1865, Fisherman’s Friend was founded by Pharmacist, James Lofthouse.

Today, the brand produces over 5 billion lozenges a year in over 10 different flavours to over 50 countries worldwide.

The Challenge

Fisherman’s Friend needed to replace its outdated Annual Business Plan template with a secure, modern online platform. The existing Word-based document had become restrictive, difficult to manage and unsuitable for global teams who needed easier access, better usability and future integration opportunities.

Outdated Planning Process

The Annual Business Plan was managed offline in Microsoft Word and had become restrictive for users

Secure Digital Platform

The new solution needed to be secure, future-proof and easy to use across different devices and locations

Future Business Integration

The platform had to support future integrations with wider business systems as the project evolved

What We Delivered

We delivered a secure, bespoke online Annual Business Plan platform that replaced Fisherman’s Friend’s previous offline Word-based process.

The platform allowed Country Managers to log in, create, update and view business plans specific to their market. Permission-based access ensured users could only see the plans relevant to their region, while form-based pages made it easier to move through each section and input the right information.

We introduced automated calculations, including totals and currency conversions, as well as autosave functionality to reduce the risk of lost work. Company administrators were given full control to set up users, manage editing permissions by market, approve submitted plans, and update product lists across regions.

The platform was built using Angular 9 and material design principles, with the interface designed in line with Fisherman’s Friend’s brand guidelines while improving usability, structure and accessibility across devices.

The Result

The new platform was successfully delivered in six weeks and rolled out globally as one unified planning system.

Fisherman’s Friend moved from a manual, document-based process to a secure digital platform that gave teams greater control, consistency and visibility across markets. Country Managers could complete plans more easily, while administrators gained a clearer approval process and more flexible permission management.

The platform helped reduce manual admin, improve data accuracy through automated calculations, and create a scalable foundation for future integrations with wider business systems.
